Manchester, N.H. – Simeon Woods Richardson, a star pitching prospect for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate), has been named to the U.S. Olympic Team Roster.

Woods Richardson and the rest of Team USA will report to Cary, N.C. for training camp on July 16. The team will open its Olympic schedule in Tokyo against Israel on Friday, July 30, at 7 p.m. JST (6 a.m. EDT). They will then face Korea on Saturday, July 31 before entering into bracket play.

Woods Richardson started the Double-A Northeast League season with a 2.37 ERA in May, striking out 31 batters in just 19 innings before joining Team USA's Olympic qualifying roster on May 23.

The 20-year-old from Sugar Land, Texas returned to the Fisher Cats on June 9, and held the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) to one run on three hits in five strong innings. He picked up the win over the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) on June 20, striking out a career-high nine batters in five frames.

MLB.com ranks Woods Richardson No. 68 among all prospects in baseball, and the No. 2 pitching prospect in the Blue Jays organization.

After being drafted 48th overall by the New York Mets in 2018, he was traded to Toronto on July 28, 2019 with LHP Anthony Kay in exchange for former Fisher Cat and World Baseball Classic MVP Marcus Stroman.

Woods Richardson is scheduled to start Game 2 of tonight's doubleheader at Delta Dental Stadium, as the Fisher Cats host the Sea Dogs in Manchester throughout Fourth of July Weekend. Fans can enjoy spectacular Atlas Fireworks shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.
