Fresno, CA (Sunday, August 15) – The Stockton Ports (38-52) took a bite out of the Fresno Tacos (60-30) 6-1 Sunday evening from Chukchansi Park. Despite dropping the contest, Fresno still won the series and remained five games up on San Jose for the best record in Low-A West.

The Tacos’ lineup managed only seven hits with one extra-base knock. Drew Romo mashed a single and had the lone RBI on a sacrifice fly. Romo extended his hit streak to 21 contests, putting him one game shy of tying Euribiel Angeles for the Low-A West’s longest hit streak of the season. Cristopher Navarro smoked a late double and Bladimir Restituyo stole his fourth base in his last two affairs.

The Ports’ offense recorded nine hits with four going for extra-bases. Brayan Buelvas launched a two-run missile in the sixth, his 12th longball of the year. Danny Bautista poked a triple, notching a run and RBI. Joshwan Wright and T.J. Schofield-Sam each whacked a double with Wright securing a pair of RBI. Junior Perez waltzed home twice in the triumph.

Fresno lefty Austin Kitchen (1-2) agonized the defeat after a career-high five and two-thirds solid innings. He punched out two batters and only walked one. Kitchen has issued five walks in 32 and two-thirds frames this year. Stockton righty Angello Infante (2-0) enjoyed the decision after allowing one run over five innings of work. He gave way to James Gonzalez, who smothered the Tacos for four frames. Gonzalez gave up two hits and struck out three en route to his first save. Both clubs will take Monday off before returning to action on Tuesday.
