Brent Honeywell Jr. has made the screwball his trademark early in his career, but he's hoping the rest of his repertoire can help push him to the next level. Tampa Bay's No. 2 prospect is leaving no stone unturned in attempt to improve his more traditional offerings, which even means calling upon his high-school-aged brother for some assistance.

"He's got a curveball that's way better than mine," Honeywell told MiLB.com's Lisa Pride. "I went to the spike curve, and that's what he throws. I've gotten some really good swings and misses on that."
The Georgia native is coming off a season in which he compiled a 2.34 ERA in 20 starts between Class A Advanced and Double-A. And according to Rays' Minor League pitching coordinator Dick Bosman, those are numbers Honeywell can replicate in 2017 with his solid array of pitches.
"He's got other ammunition, too, that's very, very effective," Bosman said. "A fastball that's above average, a curveball this spring that's much, much sharper than it was last year. He's got a cutter and a nice straight changeup - the catcher's just about got to take his glove off to give all the signs this kid's got."
