FREDERICK, MD -On Wednesday, September 20, former Frederick Keys pitcher, Tanner Scott, made his Major League debut with the Orioles. He became the seventh former Key to make his big league debut in 2017, and the 159th overall. Earlier this year, Nicky Delmonico , Jimmy Yacabonis , Stefan Crichton , Michael Ohlman, Austin Hays , and Chance Sisco all played in their first MLB games.
It was an eventful debut for the left-hander against the Boston Red Sox. Pitching the eighth inning, he allowed two runs on two hits while walking two. He also recorded his first big league strikeout of Red Sox third-baseman Deven Marrero.

Prior to his call-up, Scott helped the Double-A Bowie Baysox reach the playoffs. Starting 24 games, he went 0-2 with a 2.22 ERA. In 69 innings, he allowed just 17 runs while walking 46 and striking out 87. Opponents hit just .188 against him.
A sixth-round pick in 2014 out of Howard College, Scott pitched in 29 games for Frederick in 2016 before earning his first Double-A promotion. With the Keys, he held a 4-2 record with a 4.47 ERA. He recorded five saves while holding opponents to a .133 batting average.
