Taveras Spins Five Shutout Innings in Tourists Third Straight Win
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists won their third straight game over the Winston-Salem Dash on Saturday night. The Tourists built a 9-0 lead and held on to win 10-6. Diosmerky Taveras dominated on the pitcher’s mound and Asheville’s offense pounded out 13 hits in the victory.

The Tourists took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from Luis Santana and Zach Daniels. Chad Stevens smacked an RBI double in the second to give Asheville a 3-0 lead. In the third, JC Correa plated Michael Sandle with an RBI single and Daniels connected with another RBI single.
The home team continued to expand their lead in the fifth. Correa led off with a double and scored on a bases loaded walk drawn by Luis Guerrero. C.J. Stubbs and Stevens each added RBI groundouts and the Tourists led 9-0 after five.
Taveras pitched a season-high five shutout innings and scattered three hits while striking out six. Taveras did not walk a batter. The right-hander earned his first win of the season.
Winston-Salem battled back with five runs in the top of the sixth inning; however, Aaron Brown and Juan Pablo Lopez helped close the door late. Asheville’s final run came on Correa’s fourth hit of the contest, an RBI double down the right field line in the sixth.
Correa finished 4-for-5 with two doubles. Santana had two hits and reached base four times. Daniels, Stevens, and Quincy Hamilton all finished with a pair of hits as well.
Asheville and Winston-Salem will wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm ET.
