CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Kai-Wei Teng registered a career-high seven scoreless innings and won a 3-0 Cedar Rapids Kernels shutout Saturday against the Clinton LumberKings in front of 3,725 fans at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. A native of Taichung, Taiwan, Teng (4-0) tossed the longest shutout start of his career for the Kernels (20-14, 59-45). He took a no-hitter into the fourth inning and posted a game-high seven strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. Cedar Rapids is also 8-1 in games that Teng has pitched in during the 2019 season.
Hadley kept Clinton (21-13, 54-49) scoreless in the final two frames and earned his first Midwest League save. He recorded a 1-2-3 eighth inning and worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to finish the contest.
The Kernels claimed a 1-0 lead within the third inning.
Cedar Rapids and Clinton will continue their three-game series Sunday at 2:05 p.m., and Kernels right-hander
