'Riders' Profar caps four-hit night with homer

A six-game hitting streak could be considered modest, but Juremi Profar's current run has been anything but.
Texas' No. 26 prospect went 4-for-4 with a homer, a double and four RBIs to lead Double-A Frisco over Northwest Arkansas, 5-3, on Thursday. Over his last six games, Profar has gone 14-for-26 with a long ball, two triples, two doubles and nine RBIs. 

"Right now, I've made some good adjustments and I've worked really hard on staying focused at the plate," the Curacao native said. "That's what's been working for me, staying focused. If I keep doing that, who knows where I'll go."

Profar delivered an RBI single to center field in the first inning and hustled to beat out a soft ground ball to third in his next at-bat. 
"Every at-bat is different, the pitcher is mixing things up and I just try to adjust to what he's doing," the 21-year-old added. "I was lucky on the infield hit, but I sprinted to first. I was very happy that I got there safely. Sometimes it's good to be lucky."
In the fifth, Profar noticed a trend from Naturals starter Ashton Goudeau (2-4). After fouling off a first-pitch breaking ball from the right-hander, he jumped all over the next pitch for a two-run double to left to give the RoughRiders a 3-1 lead.

"I noticed [Goudeau] was throwing a curveball a lot," Profar explained. "So I was waiting for the curveball. He ended up throwing me two during the at-bat. I was ready for it and got a good piece of it."
He wrapped up his perfect day at the plate with a solo homer to left-center off Pedro Fernandez in the eighth.
"He threw me a changeup and it stayed in the zone, so I was able to hit it well," he said. "I was seeing the ball very, very well tonight. I felt good out there and the key to my good swing tonight was being able to stay focused.
"I've been working with [Frisco hitting coach] Jason Hart on staying focused and we've developed a good routine. Tonight, I was just able to take what we've been working on and put it to use during the game."

In 43 games with the RoughRiders this season, Profar has hit .297/.313/.429 with four long balls and 21 RBIs. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound infielder has struck out 20 times in 175 at-bats, but hasn't whiffed in any of his last eight games. 
"That's a gift from God, I don't know. I'm not sure how I'm able to avoid striking out," Profar said.
Ariel Jurado (5-3), the Rangers' No. 3 prospect, won his fourth straight start. The right-hander gave up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and a walk in six innings. 
Texas' sixth-ranked prospect Jose Trevino had a season-high three hits to raise his average 20 points to .250.
