The Bisons fall just short of a comeback in extra innings, lose to Rochester 5-4.

The Bisons nearly rallied from an early-inning deficit, but in the end fell to the Red Wings, 5-4, in 11 innings, Sunday afternoon from Innovative Field.

The first score of the game would not come until the bottom of the third inning, Alex Call would strike out, but the Red Wings would get a run with Drew Millas making it 1-0 Rochester. The Red Wings would put more on the board with a two-run single from James Wood scoring Erick Mejia and Darren Baker home, making the score 3-0 Rochester.

Rochester was close to adding another run on the board after a Trey Lipscomb double at the bottom of the fourth, the Bisons however would hold strong defensively with a deep left flyout caught by Nathan Lukes sending the game to the fifth inning.

Will Robertson would get the Bisons on the board scoring home on a single from Spencer Horwitz cutting the deficit to two runs, The Bisons would not be done there as a another single from Rafael Lantigua would score Max Mcdowell home as well bringing the game within a run at 3-2 Red Wings in the top of the fifth.

Buffalo evens the game up at 3-3 in the top of the sixth with another Robertson single that would score Addison Barger. Robertson got the Bisons on the board an inning before and now would help bring the game to an even.

The game stayed deadlocked through the eighth inning with the Bisons at one point retiring 15 straight hitters with pitchers Troy Watson, Joel Kuhnel and longtime veteran Brandon Eisert leading the way. The Bisons would have a bullpen day ultimately going through 9 total pitchers during the game.

The Wings loaded the bases at the bottom of the ninth, but Luis Quinones would strike out Stone Garret leaving the bases loaded for the third out. Extra innings would be played.

The tie is initially broken by Barger in the top of the 11th on a deep flyout by Cam Eden. Barger would finish the game with one hit and two runs in four at bats.

Rochester would answer right back in the bottom of the 11th with a double by Lipscomb that would score Blankenhorn, the game would ultimately end with a walk that would score Lipscomb home.

The Bisons lost in the bottom of the 11th 5-4 falling short of a comeback, Rochester takes their first six game series win of the year with four games won during the stretch. The Wings Lipscomb had two hits and a run in the win.

Bisons Barger and Robertson having influential days at bat with Robertson going two for three at bat with one run and an RBI.

Buffalo will face off against Rochester in two more six game series in July and August.

The Bisons will have a day off tomorrow before kicking off a six game home series against the St Paul Saints, it will be the first and only matchup between the two clubs in the regular season. The first game of the series is expected to start Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m.
