The Inaugural WooSox Team Store Fashion Show Introduces New Merchandise Items For 2023 Season
The Worcester Red Sox introduced several pieces of new merchandise Saturday, March 4 at the Inaugural WooSox Team Store Fashion Show.
The Worcester Red Sox introduced several pieces of new merchandise Saturday, March 4 at the Inaugural WooSox Team Store Fashion Show.
The event, attended by Season Ticket Members, featured a runway-style fashion show where several members of varying WooSox departments showed off the new team store merchandise. Suizee Bailey, the WooSox director of merchandise, said the new items displayed at the fashion show were meant to communicate that WooSox merchandise is not just for baseball season but all 365 days of the year.
“The items that were chosen were picked because we felt they were unique,” Bailey said. “They stood out from the standard baseball maroon, red and navy, typical WooSox stuff.”
Inspired by the Zoom chat held about a month ago between WooSox Principal Owner and Chairman Larry Lucchino, renowned ballpark designer Janet Marie Smith, WooSox President Dr. Charles Steinberg, and WooSox Rewards Members, Bailey said she wanted to stress the importance of fan input and feedback. Between emails, phone calls and in-person visits, Bailey said fans have been asking when the new items were coming to the team store, and the WooSox Team Store Fashion Show was the answer to that question.
“It rang loud and clear that our leadership wants to hear from our fans and wants to really take into consideration what their advice is and what kind of ideas that they have to then make our organization that much stronger and that much more in-tune and connected with the community,” Bailey said. “Since I took that message home so hard from the Zoom that night, I wanted to do the same thing from a team store perspective to reach out to those folks.”
After the fashion show, the Season Ticket Members in attendance had the opportunity to purchase the featured merchandise in the WooSox clubhouse, which had been transformed into a miniature version of the team store. Graham Williams, a Season Ticket Member since the WooSox inaugural season, said he thought the event was “pretty awesome.”
“I like to see all the stuff they’re coming out with,” Williams said, “It’s all really inclusive for the whole fanbase. It’s pretty cool to see how they unveil the stuff.”
According to Bailey, the team store doubled its sales projections with just a third of its expected attendance due to weather. The event’s success has led Bailey and the team store to already have the WooSox Team Store Fashion Show “on the books” to commence next year, as well. She said she plans to continue listening to fans and appreciating all the feedback the team store receives.
“I’ve already gotten a handful of emails,” Bailey said. “A lot of people stopped me in the clubhouse that night and already shared some ideas, so I’ve got a lot of contacts already going. It’s just nice to hear from people who really care.”
Having joined the WooSox at the beginning of the offseason, Bailey said it was important to her to introduce herself to the fanbase and the Worcester community as a whole at the Inaugural WooSox Team Store Fashion Show.
“If that connection with the fans through the team store is a way for me to keep a pulse on the Worcester community and see what else I can do to help, this whole thing is like a life’s dream to me,” Bailey said.
The new items for the 2023 season presented at the Inaugural WooSox Team Store Fashion Show are now available to all fans for purchase at https://woosox.milbstore.com/
