On Thursday, April 27, the Worcester Red Sox and the WooSox Foundation renovated Joe Schwartz Little League's field with a “Field of Dreams Renovation” presented by AbbVie. Volunteers from both the WooSox and AbbVie spent the day painting, raking, and more with the help of WooSox players Ryan Fitzgerald, Brandon Walter, and Nick Sogard.
The field renovation was truly a great community effort, as the WooSox and AbbVie relied on the help of various outside organizations. The LEI Corporation donated flowers and helped with weeding and mowing the entrance and exit of the field, and NAL's Paint Center donated paint rollers, brushes, and trays, allowing our volunteers to be fully equipped with any materials needed to get this job done.
This renovation also would not have been possible without the help of Bank of America, who sponsors the WooSox Foundation Care-A-Van. The WooSox Volunteers and players travelled to Joe Schwartz Little League in the Care-A-Van, which also helped transport water, equipment, and yard tools.
The WooSox Foundation and AbbVie are proud to support local youth baseball and softball players and wish Joe Shwartz Little League success this season. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the WooSox Foundation Care-A-Van as it travels across the commonwealth this summer, meeting the community where they are.
