With Spring Training in full swing, the Cincinnati Reds prospects and Blue Wahoos players prepare for the season ahead in Goodyear, Arizona.

Blue Wahoos broadcaster Tommy Thrall used that chance to get ready for the upcoming season by making the trek to the desert to get familiar with some of the Wahoos' new faces. Thrall has been the team's broadcaster since its inception in 2012.
While he was covering the team's Spring Training in Arizona, he had a unique opportunity to broadcast for the Reds. "I let the folks involved in the radio broadcast know when I would be around, and simply said if there's a way to get in for a couple of innings that would be great. It turned into me doing the middle two innings for three games. I initially thought it would be just two, but they asked me to do an extra game, so I jumped at it," said Thrall.
On social media, Reds fans were loving Thrall announcing the game. Twitter user, Todd Powers posted, "I'm hoping many Reds fans are listening to the audio broadcast. Tommy Thrall of the Blue Wahoos is an outstanding announcer. Glad to see he's getting a chance for a larger audience. Love listening to the Blue Wahoos and he's a big reason why."
Thrall said, "It was great to learn from guys that do this at the highest level every day. I got way more out of that trip than I ever expected."
President of the Blue Wahoos Jonathan Griffith said, "It was a great experience for Tommy. We are glad his time in the minor leagues like it is for the players, is developing and helping him expand his experience in Arizona. We hope to see him in the big leagues someday."
Also while in Arizona, Thrall caught up with several people who have worked for the Blue Wahoos. "I had a chance to catch up with former Blue Wahoos manager, Pat Kelly, former Wahoos manager/current Reds Bench Coach Jim Riggleman, former Wahoos hitting coach/current Reds assistant hitting coach Tony Jaramillo, former Wahoos pitching coach/current Lousiville pitching coach Jeff Fassero, and former Wahoos manager/current Reds roving instructor Delion DeShields," Thrall said.
Listen to Tommy Thrall this season as he broadcasts every Blue Wahoos home and away game at BlueWahoos.com and on 97.1FM "The Ticket."
