Pitcher Andres Torres leads the Northwest League in total wins (5) and has not allowed an earned run in his last four starts. Torres was named the NWL Pitcher of the Week for his six innings of no hits and no runs performance against the Tri-City Dust Devils for the week of July 10-16. This was the first league honor for the Frogs in 2017. The 2017 season marks Andres fourth year in the Mariners organization after pitching in the Dominican Summer League last year with a 10-3 record and a 1.26 ERA.
Catcher David Banuelos receives his second honor of the week after being named NWL Player of the Week on Monday, July 24. Over the last five games in Everett, Banuelos has increased his average from .229 to .317, collected 23 bases and 15 RBI. David was drafted out of Long Beach State in the 5th Round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Banuelos was selected as a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award presented to the best collegiate catcher.
Infielder Joseph Rosa has been wreaking havoc on opposing pitcher since his arrival. Rosa spent time with the Arkansas Travelers and Tacoma Rainiers prior to the start of Everett's season. Joseph has been a key piece in the AquaSox lineup as he has not hit below .282 the entire season and currently has reached base safely in 30 of the 36 games. Rosa currently league the Northwest League in doubles (14), total bases (86), OPS (.962) and second place in runs (28), hits (46), RBI (26) and SLG (.577). During his three years in the Mariners organization he has been a member of six different teams and has hit .303 in 608 at bats.
