Three Solo Homers Not Enough to Compete with Northcut, Drive
GREENVILLE- The Asheville Tourists hit a trio of solo Home Runs on Friday night but it was nowhere near enough to keep pace with the Greenville Drive. The Drive’s DH, Nicholas Northcut, hit three Home Runs of his own and drove in eight as Greenville rolled past Asheville 16-4.
GREENVILLE- The Asheville Tourists hit a trio of solo Home Runs on Friday night but it was nowhere near enough to keep pace with the Greenville Drive. The Drive’s DH, Nicholas Northcut, hit three Home Runs of his own and drove in eight as Greenville rolled past Asheville 16-4.
The Tourists took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Nerio Rodriguez plated Quincy Hamilton with a two-out RBI single to right field. Northcut answered with a Grand Slam for the Drive in the bottom off the first.
Greenville scored four more in the second inning, including a three-run Homer from Northcut, to build an 8-1 lead. Asheville received a pair of solo Home Runs in the fourth inning off the bats of Rodriguez and Cristian Gonzalez.
The Drive responded with five more runs in the bottom of the fourth and held a 13-3 lead heading into the fifth. Chad Stevens gave the Tourists their final run of the game with a solo Home Run in the sixth inning; however, Northcut answered again with a solo Home Run.
Rodriguez led the way offensively for Asheville with three hits. The rest of the Tourists went a combined 4-for-30. Asheville and Greenville will take the field on Saturday at 7:05pm for Game Five of their current series.
