Tim Anderson to Begin MLB Rehab Tonight 

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, who is currently on the team’s 10-day injured list, will begin a Major League Baseball rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights starting tonight at Truist Field. The Knights open up a six-game homestand tonight against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) with first pitch on tap for 7:04 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.

Anderson, 28, is currently batting .356 (58-for-163) with 24 runs scored, nine doubles, five home runs, 19 RBIs, and eight stolen bases over 40 games this season with the White Sox. He was placed on the team’s injured list on May 31 (retroactive to May 30) with a strained right groin.

Originally drafted in the first round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft (17th overall pick), Anderson appeared in 55 games with the Charlotte Knights in 2016 and hit .304 (75-for-247) with 39 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 20 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. He was promoted from Charlotte to Chicago on June 10, 2016. At the time of that promotion, Anderson was leading the International League in hits (75) and was second in runs scored (39).

Since then, Anderson has been one of the game’s brightest players. In 2019, the Tuscaloosa, AL native led the American League in hitting with a .335 mark. One year later, he earned an American League Silver Slugger Award in 2020 after hitting .322 that season. Last season, he hit .309 and became just the eighth player in White Sox franchise history to hit .300 or better for a third consecutive season.
