Tourists Drop Game Three to Drive 6-2

GREENVILLE- The Asheville Tourists fell to the Greenville Drive on Thursday night 6-2 in large part due to a difficult sixth inning. The Drive plated all of their runs in the sixth and held Asheville’s offense in check for most of the game.
The Tourists lost their starting pitcher, Cesar Gomez, to an injury in the third inning. Gomez had retired seven of the first eight batters he faced prior to departing. Franny Cobos, who was pitching for the first time in nearly a month, replaced Gomez and kept Greenville off the scoreboard through the fourth.
Asheville’s C.J. Stubbs put the visitors in front 1-0 when he was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth, stole second, stole third, and scored on a throwing error. Danny Cody kept Greenville from scoring in the fifth; however, the sixth inning was a different story.
The Drive used four walks, a hit by pitch, and two extra base hits to grab a 6-1 lead. Deury Carrasco launched a solo Home Run down the right field line in the top of the eighth but that was all Asheville’s offense would garner back.
Both teams are back in action on Friday night with the first pitch slated for 7:05pm ET.
