Tourists Fall to the Braves 6-0
ROME- The Asheville Tourists dropped their fourth consecutive ballgame on Thursday night with a 6-0 loss to the Rome Braves at AdventHealth Stadium. Asheville fell behind 3-0 early on and Rome used a few late insurance runs to finish out the contest.
ROME- The Asheville Tourists dropped their fourth consecutive ballgame on Thursday night with a 6-0 loss to the Rome Braves at AdventHealth Stadium. Asheville fell behind 3-0 early on and Rome used a few late insurance runs to finish out the contest.
The Tourists were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten runners on base. It is only the third time this season the Tourists have been shutout. Rome’s starting pitcher, Royber Salinas, pitched six innings. The Braves starting pitchers have thrown a combined 17 shutout innings over the first three games of the series.
Jacob Coats was a major bright spot out of the Tourists bullpen. Coats pitched three scoreless innings out of Asheville’s bullpen to keep the Tourists within striking distance. Jacob struck out three and allowed only one hit.
Luis Santana had his 12-game hit streak snapped in the loss The reigning South Atlantic League Player of the Month went 0-for-2 with two walks. Deury Carrasco also walked twice in the game. The Tourists were held to four hits in the game, all singles.
Asheville and Rome are back in action on Friday night with the first pitch slated for 7:00pm ET.
