GREENSBORO-- The Asheville Tourists entered Friday night's game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers coming off back-to-back extra inning contests. Asheville's bullpen needed a day off and on Friday they received it. Starting pitcher Antonio Santos was forced to fight through and the Tourists fell by a final score of 6-3.
Santos allowed all six of Greensboro's runs by surrendering 13 hits over six innings. The 13 hits allowed are the most hits a Tourists pitcher has allowed in a single game all season. Santos did his best of a night where he just did not have his good stuff; not to mention no one was going to spell him.

Offensively, the Tourists began hot but were held scoreless over their final six frames. Willie Abreu drove in all three of Asheville's runs including a two-run Home Run in the top of the first.
Jacob Bosiokovic saw his 11-game hitting streak come to an end. Manny Melendez recorded a pair of doubles but the Tourists could not make the Grasshoppers pay when they put runners aboard. Even with the odds stacked against them, the Tourists made it close. Asheville even brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth inning but Reilly Hovis retired Max George to end the game.
The Tourists will attempt to bounce back on Saturday night against the Grasshoppers with a 7:00pm first pitch.
