HICKORY- On a dramatic night in Hickory, the Asheville Tourists trailed the Hickory Crawdads 4-3 entering the ninth inning on Friday night. Pascanel Ferreras hit a game-tying solo Home Run for the Tourists. Jeron Williams and Collin Price followed with back-to-back hits and Cam Fisher drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder’s choice. The Tourists held on to win the game 5-4.
Carlos Calderon and Trey Dombrowski pitched 8.2 of the nine innings and kept the Crawdads potent offense in check. Hickory took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Asheville’s offense churned out two runs in the top of the fourth. Logan Cerny hit an RBI doubled to plate John Garcia and Cerny later scored on a Crawdads error.
After Hickory regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, Cerny clubbed his third Homer of the season; a solo shot to tie the game 3-3. Once again, the Crawdads took a one-run lead, but it was the Tourists ninth inning rally that was the difference.
Cerny led the way with a 2-for-4 night while Ferreras went 1-for-3 with a walk. Ian Foggo faced one batter with two outs in the fifth inning and ended the frame with a strikeout.
The current series is tied up at two games apiece. Game Five is scheduled for 7:00pm ET Saturday night in Hickory.
