WINSTON-SALEM- The Asheville Tourists rode their starting pitcher Michael Knorr as long as they could on Wednesday night. Asheville built a 4-0 lead and Knorr retired the first 15 batters he faced. The Winston-Salem Dash waited Knorr out and plated four runs in the seventh inning to beat the Tourists in front of their home crowd 6-4.
Collin Price hit a solo Home Run in the second inning and Rolando Espinosa hit a solo blast in the third to give Asheville their first two runs. Freudis Nova’s RBI single in the fourth drove in Price to extend the lead to 3-0. In the fifth, Tim Borden II and Ryan Clifford hit back-to-back extra base hits and the Tourists built a 4-0 lead.
Knorr was perfect through five but did allow a two-run Home Run in the sixth. Michael became just the second Tourists pitcher this year to go six innings. The Dash then plated four runs off Franny Cobos in the seventh inning to take the lead. Asheville managed only one base-runner in 4.1 innings against the Dash bullpen.
Price finished 2-for-4 with a Home Run and a double while Borden II went 2-for-4 with a triple. Walker Brockhouse pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Espinosa’s Home Run was the first of his professional career outside of the Florida Complex League.
The Tourists have given up an individual inning of four runs or more in all four games of their season-long skid.
