Travs Roll to Take Series

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas capitalized on 10 Corpus Christi walks Monday night, dispatching the Hooks, 8-3, to secure the three-game series at Dickey-Stephens Park.
The Travelers (3-2) jumped out to an early advantage, scoring four times in the second. Facing lefty Cionel Pérez, Joe De Carlo and Braden Bishop both registered two-run doubles as the home team sent eight men to bat.

Corpus Christi southpaw Alex Winkelman entered in the fifth and recorded the first two outs quickly. An infield single and two walks followed to load the bases. De Carlo shot a single into left for the Travs fifth marker. Carmen Benedetti threw out a runner at third base on the play, ending the inning before an additional run could cross the plate.
The Hooks (2-3) got to Nathan Bannister for a run in the fourth. Taylor Jones opened with a double and, two outs later, scored on Ryne Birk's base hit to left field.
Benedetti hammered the first pitch he saw in the fifth for an opposite field solo home run. It marked Corpus Christi's first round-tripper of 2018.
Arkansas batted around and scored three runs in the eighth to ice the game.
Benedetti, who cracked an RBI single in the ninth, is 5-for-13 (.385) with a club-best six RBIs. Taylor Jones reached base three times Monday night to maintain his .500 (7-for-14) season batting average.
Rehabbing Astro Yuli Gurriel notched two doubles in the contest, making him 8-for-17 with four doubles and three RBIs in four Texas League assignments.
The Hooks aim to salvage the series Tuesday morning with Josh James (0-0, 6.00) on the hill. First pitch is 11 a.m. The finale will be broadcasted live in Corpus Christi on 1400 AM KUNO.
