Trailing by a run going to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Space Cowboys (24-13) rattled off four hits to knock off the Oklahoma City Baseball Club (22-15) 5-4 in walk-off fashion on Friday night at Constellation Field.

In the bottom of the ninth back-to-back one-out hits from Cooper Hummel and Quincy Hamilton gave Sugar Land some life, putting runners on the corners. Luke Berryhill whacked a sharp liner to center field on the first pitch he saw to tie the game up at four. RHP Kevin Gowdy (L, 0-2) struck out the next hitter, but Will Wagner took a slider and lasered it down the right-field line, plating Hamilton to score the winning run and give Sugar Land a 5-4 victory.

Space Cowboys starter RHP AJ Blubaugh allowed two runs in the top of the second inning on an RBI double and single with no outs in the frame. A double play from Kody Hoese helped the Space Cowboys escape the jam and keep the damage at 2-0.

Consecutive hits from Wagner and Shay Whitcomb put runners on second and third in the top of the fourth for Pedro León, who grounded it to the shortstop to allow Wagner to score, cutting the lead in half. César Salazar knocked one through the right side to send Whitcomb home and tie the game up. Whitcomb’s hit extended his on-base streak to 24 games, the longest active on-base streak in the Pacific Coast League. In the fifth, Sugar Land loaded up the bases to bring up León, and RHP Eduardo Salazar walked him on six pitches to hand the Space Cowboys the lead.

Oklahoma City knotted it up at three in the top of the seventh with one swing of the bat from Jonathan Araúz off RHP Logan VanWey (BS, 2). An RBI single from Kevin Padlo put Oklahoma City ahead 4-3 in the eighth, but RHP Luis Contreras (W, 1-0) threw a scoreless ninth to set up the walk off for Sugar Land.

The Space Cowboys cap off their first ‘Fauxback Weekend’ Saturday night against the Oklahoma City Baseball Club Saturday night. LHP Colton Gordon (0-0, 5.23) will take the mound for a 6:05 pm CT first pitch. Oklahoma City’s starter is TBA. The game can be heard on ESPN 92.5 FM or online here and seen on MiLB.TV, MLB.TV or Bally Live.
