JUPITER, Fla. (July 11, 2019) - The St. Lucie Mets rallied late and went on to defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads 7-4 in 10 innings on Thursday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
The Mets won three out of four against Jupiter, including two extra innings games. They have won seven of their last eight.
The Hammerheads jumped out to a 2-0 lead before recording an out in the first inning.
In the fourth inning,
The Mets started to mount their comeback in the next inning.
After Zanon's homer, the next 10 Mets were retired.
In the top of the 10th, Moreno reached on a bunt single to start the frame. After a sac bunt and pop out, the Hammerheads opted to intentionally walk Cortes with first base open and put a force at every base. The move backfired when Vasquez laced an opposite field doubled through the left side of the infield that went all the way to the warning track.
Renteria retired the Hammerheads in order in the bottom of the 10th to end the game. The Mets are now 4-1 in extra innings games in the second half.
The Mets (16-8, 48-42) continue their road trip on Friday when they start a three-game series at the Dunedin Blue Jays. First pitch from Jack Russell Memorial Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m.
