San Jose, CA - San Jose Giants outfielder Vaun Brown was acknowledged by Minor League Baseball as the California League Player of the Week for the second time after a scorching hot week in Modesto. This is the second time Brown has earned California League honors in 2022, having earned the award just three weeks prior in the first week of May.
Brown, an outfielder drafted in the 10th round out of Florida Southern University in 2021 by the San Francisco Giants, continues to lead the San Jose team in all major hitting categories including average (.362), home runs (11), hits (59), runs batted in (28) and stolen bases (18). Last week in five games, Brown had 11 hits in 19 at bats (.579 average), with five doubles, one triple, one home run and he added four stolen bases. In addition, Brown leads the California League in slugging percentage (.656), OPS (1.103) and total bases (107).
The San Jose Giants started their six-game homestand with a 10-2 win over the Stockton Ports on Memorial Day and continue the series on Wednesday with five additional home games against the Oakland A’s Single-A Affiliate.
