COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Vibes dropped their fourth-straight game Wednesday night at UCHealth Park 4-3 to Idaho Falls, once again in agonizing fashion, with all four losses in the streak coming by one run. They are now 9-30 on the season, with the second half of the season looming.
The Vibes struck first in the fourth inning, driving in two runs to take the lead. Eduardo Vera was on the mound for the Vibes and pitched yet another gem, with zero earned runs in five innings of work. His dominance kept the Vibes in front throughout his entire time in the game.
In what has become a common theme this season for Rocky Mountain, Idaho Falls then proceeded to climb back in the game once the Vibes bullpen came in, getting one run in the top half of the fifth as soon as Vera exited. Jacob Barfield hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to get the Vibes lead back to two runs, but the elation was short-lived as the Chukars struck for two runs in the top of the seventh on two Vibes errors.
Idaho Falls took their first lead of the ballgame with one run the ninth which would be enough to hand the Vibes their fourth consecutive loss by one run.
Tonight’s game starts the Vibes long anticipated home stand as their alter ego Las L’loronas as part of the Pioneer League’s COPA series. Planned for the 2020 season and pushed back until now, the Vibes are paying homage to the Latin myth of La L’lorona with alternate jerseys and several promotions from now until July 12th. Idaho Falls is also participating in the series as the Madres. The Vibes will be back in action tomorrow as La L’loronas, with game time set for 6:30 PM from UCHealth Park.
