LANSINGMich. - Coming off 14 days on the road, the Lansing Lugnuts (41-27) were glad to be back at Cooley Law School Stadium, treating a crowd of 8,104 to a 6-4 victory over the South Bend Cubs (34-33) on Friday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The night was a showcase for All-Star right-hander Maximo Castillo (Win, 5-2), who tossed five shutout innings, striking out five, while All-Star shortstop Kevin Vicuña went 4-for-5 with three RBIs four days prior to the Midwest League All-Star Game presented by LAFCU.

South Bend starter Jesus Camargo (Loss, 2-2) gave up a Brock Lundquist RBI double in the first, a Vicuña RBI double in the second, a Vicuña RBI triple in the fifth, and a Vicuña RBI single in the sixth inning, finishing with five runs allowed on eight hits and two walks in 5 2/3.

Brandon Grudzielanek and Andres Sotillo each went 2-for-4 to supplement the Lugnuts' offense, while Brayden Bouchey and Emerson Jimenez tossed two innings apiece.

Cubs All-Star first baseman Jared Young knocked a three-run homer in the ninth inning to close out the scoring.

Saturday, Episode 2 of the three-game series, is Star Wars Night! Jedi Master Donnie Sellers (4.83 ERA) duels the fates against South Bend's Darth (Javier) Assad (3.25) at 7:05 p.m., with LAFCU Fireworks following the game.
