Great Falls, MT-The Pioneer League of Professional Baseball has named Great Falls Voyagers IF Anthony Villa the Player of the Week for games July 31st through August 6th.

Great Falls, MT-The Pioneer League of Professional Baseball has named Great Falls Voyagers IF Anthony Villa the Player of the Week for games July 31st through August 6th.

For the week, Villa played in four games and posted a .533 batting average with 2 HR and 6 RBI. The second-year professional out of St. Mary's College (CA) went 8-for-15 with a double and a triple. Villa scored five runs and had three walks with only one strikeout. Villa currently leads the Pioneer League in homers with 11, and is batting .324 this season with 35 RBI. He is tied for 4th in runs batted in. Villa ranks 3rd in on-base percentage at .451 and is 2nd in slugging at .655. His 22 extra-base hits this season is 2nd behind Voyagers teammate Craig Dedelow.
The 23-year-old Villa hails from Danville, CA and was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 19th round of the 2016 first-year MLB player draft. Villa was named a Pioneer League All-Star this season. In 2016 with Great Falls, Villa played in 59 games and hit .249 with 3 HR and 35 RBI. The weekly award for Villa marks the first for a Voyager in 2017.
