The Bees opened the scoring in the third inning. John Schuknecht started the inning by lining a double to left field. After Franklin Navarro flew out to right and Artemis Kadkhodaian lined out, Leonardo Rivas grounded a single into left, scoring Shuknecht, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. After Jonah Todd walked, Richie Fecteau lined a single into right field, scoring Rivas, extending the Bees' lead to 2-0.
Bees' starter Andrew Vinson and reliever Adrian Almeida would combine to throw seven shutout innings before Cedar Rapids put a run on the board in the eighth inning. With one out, Christian Caveness drew a walk and then moved to third when Jordan Gore reached on a two-base error. Royce Lewis then grounded out, scoring Caveness, cutting the Bees' lead to 2-1. Ryan would get out of the inning with the lead still intact.
After the Bees left the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Zac Ryan (1) came back out for the ninth and retired the Kernels in order, earning the save. Andrew Vinson (8-9) earned the win while Tyler Beardsley (3-7) was charged with the loss.
