Volpe’s Ninth Inning Homer The Difference In Somerset’s Win
Manchester, New Hampshire – New York Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe’s (7) three-run opposite field home run in the top of the ninth inning led the Somerset Patriots (40-21) to a 6-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (27-34) on Friday night. It was Somerset’s fifth straight victory.

Somerset got the scoring started in the top of the second with a Josh Breaux (12) two-run blast, plating Volpe and giving the
Patriots a 2-0 lead.
New Hampshire rallied for three runs to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Spencer Horwitz (7) led off the frame with a solo home run, followed by a Phil Clarke sacrifice fly scoring Orelvis Martinez, and a Luis De Los Santos single scoring Will Robertson.

Somerset tied the game at three in the top of the eighth on a Brandon Lockridge base hit, bringing home Elijah Dunham.
Steven Jennings (1-2) earned the win, striking out one in a perfect eighth inning, while Carson Coleman (4) recorded the save, striking out two in a perfect ninth.
Jimmy Burnette (1-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on a hit in one inning of work.
