(Great Falls, Mt. ) - The Great Falls Voyagers (20-25/39-54) a week ago were feeling good and looking to secure a playoff spot with a chance to win the second half of the Pioneer League Northern Division. Fortune took a different turn though as the Voyagers lost 3 out of 3 in Missoula then lost 2 of 3 versus the Missoula Paddleheads (27-18/62-31) in their final three game home series of the 2021 season. The Voyagers will finish out the season on the road at Idaho Falls in a 3 game series.

The final home game started off nicely for the Voyagers as first time this season lead off hitter, Michael Deed, started the Voyagers off with a triple. He was brought home as Andy Atwood grounded out to second base. That did it for the Voyagers in scoring though until the 6th inning.

The same couldn't be said for the Paddleheads however, as they scored 2 in the second, 4 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th. After adding another 3 in the top of the 5th the Voyagers found themselves down 13-1 after 5 innings.

The Voyagers were able to push one across in the 6th inning as Kyle Crowl had a single and was brought home with a single from Breydon Daniel. The pitching for the Voyagers were able to hold the Paddleheads off the scoreboard in the 6th and 7th inning but gave one up in the 8th.

The Voyagers scored two themselves in the 7th inning as Nick Emanuel had a single to left field to start the inning off. A hard ground ball by Deeb to the right side caused an error on the Paddleheads second baseman. A hard hit fly ball to the fence in left by Atwood and an error by the Paddleheads left fielder brought home Deeb. A single by Jason Matthews, who was given the team MVP award prior to the game, scored Emanuel and Atwood. The Voyagers found themselves trailing 13-5 after 7.

However, with the run in the 8th a solo home run by Deeb over the right field fence didn't close the gap, and two in the top of the 9th by the Paddleheads led to the final score of 16-6.

The MVP for pitchers was given to Quincy Jones before the game. This was the final home game for the Voyagers in 2021 and while it didn't end the way the Voyagers and their fans would have wished it was still an exciting season. With Manager Tommy Thompson scheduled to come back next year and having more time to put together a team before opening day, things look bright for the Voyagers in 2022. Until then, have a great off season!!
