Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals took a lead into the ninth inning, but ultimately fell 6-5 in walk-off fashion to the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field Sunday evening. Chattanooga hit three doubles in the ninth to tie and down the Generals in the series opener.
Up 5-4, the Generals turned to Joey Krehbiel (1-2, 2.25) in the ninth. Immediately, LaMonte Wade and Travis Harrison hit consecutive doubles to tie the contest. After an intentional walk, Levi Michael laid down a bunt but was called out for interference on the throw to first. The lengthy argument that ensued wound up not mattering, as Ryan Walker followed with a double to left-center that plated the winning run.

Mason Melotakis (3-1, 2.57) pitched a perfect top of the ninth to pick up the win for Chattanooga (31-25). Three pitchers for the Lookouts combined on 11 strikeouts and no walks in the victory.
Jackson (29-27) was in front going into the final frame thanks to a clutch home run by Oscar Hernández. Chattanooga had gone up 4-3 on a Levi Michael single in the fifth before the Generals answered in the sixth. After a bunt single by Victor Reyes, Hernandez hit a majestic shot to left field that put the Generals up 5-4. It was their first lead of the contest.
The game was up and down from the start. Jackson starter Brad Keller gave up three runs in the first inning on two hits and an error. The Generals tied it with three unearned runs in the fourth inning thanks to a pair of Chattanooga errors. The teams combined for five errors in the contest.
Yuhei Nakaushiro and Daniel Gibson combined to pitch 3.1 shutout innings in relief of Keller. The pair combined to strand five men on base in the middle innings to keep Jackson in front until the decisive ninth.
