Erie rallied in the eighth though. Reliever Tyler Erwin allowed an opposite field line drive double down the left field line from Chad Sedio. Chace Numata then attempted to bunt nut got deep in the count and walked on a 3-2 pitch. Luke Burch then bunted, perfectly placing one up the third base line. Erwin's throw was on target but late and the bases were loaded. u5:p

Taylor Grover entered out of the Baysox pen but a hard groundball from Derek Hill beat Baysox shortstop Mason McCoy to his backhand side and the error allowed two runs to score. Erie would later get a soft, 2-RBI single to left field from Isaac Paredes with the infield drawn in for a 4-1 advantage.u5:p

Bowie was able to grab the lead in the fourth inning off of Erie starter Matt Manning. Ryan McKenna doubled into the left field corner to leadoff the frame. With two down, Martin Cervenka singled him home to put the Baysox on top 1-0. The lead held until the Erie eighth inning rally.u5:p
