TACOMA, Wash. - A pair of home runs from right fielder Jayson Werth and third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean lifted the Tacoma Rainiers (21-21) to a 7-2 victory over the Las Vegas 51s (17-25) on Friday night at Cheney Stadium.
Werth (1x3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB), Mejias-Brean (1x4, HR, RBI, R), and second baseman Danny Muno (2x4, 2 RBI) led the way for the Tacoma offense as the Rainiers evened the series at one win apiece.

Rainiers starting left-hander Aríel Miranda (4-0) was electric - he allowed just one earned run across seven innings and struck out eight 51s batters along the way.
Las Vegas jumped on the board first during the top half of the second as Zach Borenstein homered to left to give the 51s a 1-0 lead.
The Rainiers answered immediately during the bottom of the second, loading the bases and scoring three runs on a wild pitch and a two-RBI single from Muno to make it 3-1.
Mejias-Brean and Werth then smacked homers in the fourth and fifth, respectively, extending Tacoma's lead to 7-1.
The 51s pushed across a run during the top half of the ninth on a single from Johnny Monell, but the Rainiers bullpen closed the game down and solidified the victory for Tacoma.
The Rainiers and 51s return to action Saturday night at 5:05 p.m. PT for game three of the four-game series. Right-hander Rob Whalen (5-2, 5.73) will get the start for Tacoma and righty Drew Gagnon (0-1, 6.56) will be on the bump for Las Vegas.
