HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 1, 2018) - After delivering a 12-4 drubbing Saturday night, West Virginia had the script flipped on them Sunday afternoon, as Hagerstown soared to an 11-4 victory at Historic Municipal Stadium.
The Suns (2-8, 29-49) took off from the get-go, as the first four men reached against Power starter Cody Bolton (3-1). Yasel Antuna walked to begin the game, while Cole Freeman, Luis Garcia and Jake Scudder stroked three straight singles, with Scudder's driving in a pair to make it 2-0 Hagerstown. Garcia would score later in the inning on Bolton's second balk of the season.

West Virginia (7-3, 44-32) responded in the second with a pair of runs, as Lolo Sanchez and Oneil Cruz ripped back-to-back RBI singles to close the defict to 3-2, but that was as slim as they could make it for the rest of the afternoon.
Hagerstown added three more in their half of the second, chasing Bolton from the game after just two innings, tied for the shortest start of his career. The right-hander surrendered a career-high six runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking one.
Sergio Cubilete replaced Bolton in the third and did not fare much better, as the Suns got to him for five runs over three innings of work to extend their lead to 11-2. Meanwhile, Hagerstown starter Kyle Johnston (2-2) was strong through his second straight six-inning start. The University of Texas product struck out a career-best eight batters and scattered four hits over 87 pitches.
The Power was able to scratch two runs across in the seventh against Carlos Acevedo (S, 2), with five of the first six batters to face Acevedo doing all the damage. Chris Sharpe led off the frame with a single, and Raul Siri was hit by a pitch. Kyle Watson then brought in Sharpe with a base hit before Sanchez singled to load the bases. After Cruz struck out, Rodolfo Castro grounded out to second base, plating West Virginia's fourth and final run of the afternoon.
In the loss, Samuel Reyes and Joel Cesar combined to spin three scoreless innings of relief, ceding one walk and one hit while striking out three.
The Power continues their four-game series with Hagerstown Monday evening, with first pitch from Historic Municipal Stadium set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Gavin Wallace (6-1, 3.54 ERA) toes the slab for West Virginia, while Hagerstown counters with righty Jackson Tetreault (1-7, 5.23 ERA). Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM, as well as online at www.wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App and MiLB First Pitch App.
