Allentown, Pennsylvania (September 3, 2023) – Playing as the Lehigh Valley IronHorses (71-59, 35-22) on Salute to the Lehigh Valley night, it was full steam ahead in a 9-2 win for the IronHorses over the Syracuse Mets (52-77, 19-36) on Sunday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Weston Wilson started the scoring, socking a solo homer in the first inning for the IronHorses before Aramis Garcia came through with an RBI single with two outs.

Wilson belted his second homer of the game, and 29th of the season, a three-run shot, in the second to make it 5-0. The 29th homer for Wilson tied him with Rhys Hoskins, who hits 29 in 2017, for the most homers in a single-season in franchise history.

Wilson added a double in the fourth and then came in to score on a Matt Kroon double later in the inning to make it 6-0

Danny Mendick and Daniel Palka hit back-to-back homers to lead off the sixth for the Mets, trimming their deficit to 6-2.

Kody Clemens smoked a solo homer in the last of the sixth, his 14th of the year, to grab one of those runs back.

The IronHorses got a run on a throwing error in the seventh before Darick Hall ripped an RBI single, extending the lead to 9-2.

It was more than enough offense for Nick Nelson (7-2) who fired his seventh Quality Start of the season to get the win for the IronHorses. Nelson allowed just two runs over six innings on three hits and two walks, striking out eight.

Justin Jarvis (0-3) suffered the loss for the Mets, allowing five runs in two innings on three hits and four walks, striking out three.

Following an off-day on Monday, the IronPigs hit the road to kick off a six-game series with the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday, September 5. First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. from Sahlen Field.
