This, the 18th year of River Cats baseball, was highlighted by a lot of new names - mostly those of rising prospects. Sacramento started the season with four first round draft picks on the Opening Day roster:

Many of those top prospects also saw time under the lights at AT&T Park. Arroyo and Crick each made their Major League debuts in 2017 and Stratton, whose debut came in 2016, flourished with San Francisco in August. Others who got the call from Sacramento this season include

Overall, Sacramento finished the season 64-77, good for fourth in the Pacific Northern Division. Despite the last place finish, the River Cats were again among the top three in the Pacific Coast League in both total and average attendance for the 18th consecutive season.
River Cats baseball will be back in West Sacramento early in 2018 as the San Francisco Giants return to Raley Field to take on their Triple-A affiliate on Saturday, March 24. The season officially kicks off on the road, but the Sacramento River Cats home opener is set for Thursday, April 10, 2018 right here at Raley Field.
