The Whitecaps, hoping to get some momentum before the upcoming Midwest League playoffs, could not find any traction against TinCaps starter
The TinCaps 18 base hits tied their best performance against the Whitecaps this season. West Michigan could only gather seven hits all night as Longley represented the only Whitecap with a two-hit game. Woodrow also recorded two RBI's in the loss as West Michigan fell for only the 5th time in 18 games against Fort Wayne this year. Watkins (9-3) broke a personal three game win streak by taking the loss, pitching five innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs. The Whitecaps lost for only the second time in nine games and fell to 90-45 on the year, and 45-23 in the second half standings. The loss also eliminated the chance for the 'Caps to match the franchise record of 92 wins set in 1997. Bachar (4-1) pitched six innings, surrendering only four hits and two earned runs and took the win for playoff -bound Fort Wayne who improved to 42-27 in the second half and 68-71 overall.
