Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots (73-46) used an eight-run fourth inning and a grand slam by Austin Wells to top the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (52-68) by a score of 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Yankees No. 4 prospect, Wells hit his career-high 17th home run of the season and his ninth with the Patriots to cap Somerset's eight-run onslaught with a grand slam.
The grand slam ensured that Wells has homered in back-to-back games. Dating back to last Sunday, over his last seven games, Wells has collected 14 RBIs.

Somerset's 11-batter, eight-run fourth inning began with Andres Chaparro smacking the second of his two doubles on the day. Rodolfo Duran was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give them their first run.
Eric Wagaman then reached on an error that brought home two more Patriots runs. Max Burt was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Patriots a 4-0 lead, prior to Wells' grand slam.
Burt replaced Everson Pereira in the game, after Pereira fouled a pitch off his foot in the third inning and later departed. Anthony Volpe was also ejected in the game by home plate umpire Sean Cassidy, after striking out in the first inning. He was replaced by Oliver Dunn.
The Patriots' 73rd win of the season advances their record to 73-46, besting their mark of 72-47 in 2021, the team's inaugural season as the Yankees' Double-A affiliate.
The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on Tuesday night, when a two-week road trip commences, beginning in Binghamton with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch at Mirabito Stadium.
