Frederick, MD -The Frederick Keys are excited to announce that infielder, Stevie Wilkerson, has been promoted to the Double-A Bowie Baysox. He is the third member of the orange and black to earn a promotion this year, and the second to move up in the last week. Last Wednesday, Randolph Gassaway was promoted to the Eastern League, while Yermin Mercedes was the first to move up.
This marks the second promotion for Wilkerson, 25, to Double-A. In 2016, the Georgia native played three games for the Baysox, going 2-for-9 while playing at second base. In 41 games with the Keys this season, the former Clemson product batted .323 (50-for-155) with two home runs, 15 RBIs, 10 doubles and 29 runs scored. He also posted a .407 on-base percentage. A strong asset defensively, Wilkerson spent time at second base, shortstop, third base, first base and rightfield.

At the time of his promotion, Wilkerson was fourth in on-base percentage, tied for fourth in hits and tied for fifth in hitting. On Monday night, he wrapped up a six-game hitting streak. During that time Wilkerson hit .357 (10-for-28) with six runs scored.
Splitting time between Frederick and Double-A Bowie in 2016, Wilkerson batted .251 with four home runs and 36 RBIs over 117 games.
An eighth round pick by the Orioles in 2014, Wilkerson played his college baseball at Clemson University. With the Tigers he was a three-time second-team All-ACC selection. He was also drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 15th round out of Pope (GA) High School.
The Keys also acquired left-handed pitcher Alex Katz from the Chicago White Sox, and Keegan Akin has been transferred to Aberdeen.
The Keys play a doubleheader with the Potomac Nationals on Wednesday night at Pfitzner Stadium. First pitch of game one is slated for 4:00 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source and frederickkeys.com.
