APPLETON, WI (May 17, 2017) - Following a slugfest win on Tuesday the Clinton LumberKings mustered just one run in a 2-1 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field.
The LumberKings broke the scoreless tie with an opposite field home run from Zammarelli off Wisconsin starter
Jankins (2-2) earned the win with his longest outing of the year. The righty struck out five in in his 7.2 innings of work allowing just four hits while walking two.
Newsome (4-3) surrendered his first run of the evening to Trevor Morrison who homered to straight away center field with two out in the fifth inning. The home run was Morrison's first professional career homme run.
The Timber Rattler took the lead for good in the following inning. In the bottom of the sixth,
Clinton managed to get the tying run on in the ninth inning. Zammarelli walked with two men out but was thrown out trying to advance to second on a pitch that had gotten away from Timber Rattlers catcher
