The bats started hot for the Wood Ducks, with five runs in the first two frames. Tejeda had an RBI double and a two-run single to lead the way.
Myrtle Beach's runs came on solo homers off Hernandez, but were locked down for the remainder of his outing. He retired 12 of his final 13 batters to keep his ERA under two at 1.76.
The Pelicans mounted a rally in the eighth inning to score three runs, but C.D. Pelham struck out
Two batters reached in the ninth, but Pelham's four outs in his save were all strikeouts as he locked down his second save of the season.
Down East looks to make it back-to-back on Friday night at 7:05 in Myrtle Beach.
