Mathisen, 25, hit .348 (31-for-89)/.459 OBP/.775 SLG with 5 doubles, 11 home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and 15 walks in 25 games in June for the Aces, leading the Pacific Coast League in home runs and tied for third in all of Minor League Baseball. He also ranked among the PCL leaders last month in total bases (3rd, 69), slugging pct. (4th), OPS (4th, 1.234), hit-by-pitches (T-4th, 5), RBI (5th) and runs (T-7th). Mathisen's month was highlighted by 4 consecutive multi-hit games from June 12-15 (.714; 10-for-14), and his longest since an 8-game streak from May 7-17, 2015 with Single-A Adv. Bradenton. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mathisen was signed by the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 11, 2018.
Kelly, 20, went 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA (5 ER in 25.1 IP), .136 opponent average, 0.71 WHIP and 31 strikeouts in 5 starts for the Cougars in June. He ranked among the Midwest League leaders in hits allowed (2nd, 12) [min. 25.0 IP], WHIP (2nd), opponent average (2nd), wins (T-2nd), strikeouts (5th) and ERA (6th). Kelly ended the month with a career-high 10 strikeout performance @ Cedar Rapids (0 ER in 6.0 IP). A native of St. Albans, W.Va., he was selected by Arizona in the 8th round of the 2018 draft out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
