Yacumamas Drop Series Finale 8-5
ASHEVILLE- The Yacumamas de Asheville fell to the Winston-Salem Dash 8-5 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Asheville dropped the six-game series to Winston-Salem four games to two. The Yacumamas fought to their very last out when they had the tying run at the plate.

Ryan Wrobleski gave Asheville a 2-0 lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning. Yacumamas starting pitcher, Carlos Calderon, was unable to hold the lead and was pulled from the game in the top of the second after allowing two Dash runs to score. Cole McDonald cleaned up the frame and he, along with Bryan Salgado, kept the visitors tally at two all the way through the fifth.
Wrobleski struck in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single that scored Drew Gilbert and Asheville took a 3-2 lead. Down the stretch, Yacumamas pitcher Brayan De Paula ran into trouble. De Paula surrendered two runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
Trailing 8-3 in the bottom of the ninth Asheville mounted a two-out rally. Zach Dezenzo and Collin Price both walked. Then, Justin Williams and Kobe Kato lined RBI singles. With the Yacumamas down three and the tying run at the plate, the Dash were able to record a game-ending flyout to secure the win. Gilbert, Wrobleski, and Kato all finished with a multi-hit game.
Asheville is off on Monday and will travel to Bowling Green for Tuesday night’s series opener against the Hot Rods. Tuesday’s contest is scheduled for 7:05pm ET.
