CHARLESTON, S.C. - The New York Yankees have announced that left-hander Trevor Lane has been recalled to Class-A Charleston from Tampa after posting dominant numbers with RiverDogs to open the season.
The Yankees' 10th round pick out of the University of Illinois-Chicago last summer, Lane continued to post superb numbers in his second pro season. The former Flame fanned 49 batters in 45 1/3 innings with Charleston while posting a minuscule 0.79 ERA in relief.
In a corresponding move, righty Austin DeCarr was placed on the temporarily inactive list, keeping the roster at the maximum 25.
Lane, 23, departed Charleston on an 8 1/3 inning scoreless streak in which he yielded just two baserunners over that span, both singles. Lane yielded five runs (four earned) in 11.2 innings with 12 strikeouts after the promotion, good for a 2-1 record and a 3.09 ERA in seven appearances.
Decarr, 22, is 2-1 with a 6.07 ERA (20 ER, 29.2 IP) with 32 strikeouts and 26 walks with Class-A Charleston this year.
With their retooled roster, the RiverDogs begin a four-game series with the Lexington Legends, the Class-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, on Thursday night at 7:05. Charleston sends right-hander Rony Garcia (0-2, 1.80) to make his seventh start of the season as Lexington counters with righty Gerson Garabito (3-2, 1.88). The game can be tuned into on "The Big Talker" WTMA 1250 AM and online streaming audio via riverdogs.com and the RiverDogs TuneIn Radio app station. The RiverDogs return home start a weeklong homestand on Tuesday, August 15.
