Yankees Top Kingsport Mets 5-4

The Pulaski Yankees beat the Kingsport Mets 5-4 on Wednesday night in the first of a three-game series.Yankees starter Alexander Vizcaino picked up the win to move his record to 2-1. In six innings pitched he gave up four earned runs while walking one and striking out three.Pulaski tagged Mets

The Pulaski Yankees beat the Kingsport Mets 5-4 on Wednesday night in the first of a three-game series.
Yankees starter Alexander Vizcaino picked up the win to move his record to 2-1. In six innings pitched he gave up four earned runs while walking one and striking out three.
Pulaski tagged Mets starter Ezequiel Zabaleta for five runs to hand him the loss. He pitched five innings giving up four hits while walking and striking out five.
The Mets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Jeremy Vasquez drove a two out double into the right centerfield gap to score Rigoberto Terrazas.
The Yankees responded in the bottom of the 1st. Pablo Olivares and Steven Sensley picked up back to back walks to start the inning. Dermis Garcia took advantage of the opportunity by hitting a three run homerun to make the score 3-1.
The Mets scratched another run across in the top of the 2nd. Gavin Garay drilled a double into the leftfield corner and Raphael Gladufollowed with an infield hit to put runners on the corners. With two outs Edgardo Fermin sent a grounder to Yankees shortstop Danienger Perez. Perez tried to flip to the bag at 2nd for the force out but Gladu beat the toss which allowed Garay to score to make it 3-2.
The pinstripers added two more in the bottom of the 5th. Eric Wagaman laced a two out double into the right centerfield gap that scored Olivares and Sensley to extend the Yankees lead to 5-2.
Kingsport responded in the top of the 6th with the long ball. Vasquez led off the top of the 6th with a towering shot over the right field wall to put the score at 5-3. Later in the inning Anthony Dirocie hit a solo homer to close the gap to 5-4.
Yankees reliever Abel Duarte took over for Vizcaino in the top of the 7th. He pitched two innings of scoreless relief while surrendering just one hit and striking out four.
Tyler Honahan earned his first save of the season by striking out the side in the 9th to nail down the 5-4 Yankees victory. The Yankees improved their overall record to 15-5 while the Mets dropped to 7-11. The two will square off at Calfee Park again on Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7pm.
