Just like they did in the first inning, the Twins responded well and pushed two runs of their own across the plate to cut the Yankees lead to 7-4. Vasquez gave up a one out walk and a costly fielding error on a ground ball kept both Twins runners on base. The Twins made the Yankees pay with a double that scored both runs. The second out of the inning came on a ground ball to second base that advanced the runner on second over to third. Vasquez's fifth walk of the night brought his night to an end after 4.2 innings where he gave up four runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
Elizabethton hit a lead off double in the bottom of the seventh before two more walks loaded the bases and sent the go-ahead run to the plate but Bertsch got the strikeout and ended the Twins last good chance to cut into the deficit.
The win puts the Yankees at 35-16 on the year and 9-2 in the month of August. Pulaski has now bounced back following their last five losses to win their next game and haven't lost consecutive games since July 19th and 20th.
The Yankees and Twins will continue the series tomorrow night from Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark when the Yankees go for their fifth straight series win.
