Yard Goats Take Two

(Hartford, CT) - Game 1: With rain in the looming on Friday night, the Fightin Phils are Yard Goats did everything they could to play game one of this three game series at Dunkin Donuts Park. Shane Watson started the ball game for the Fightin Phils recording two scoreless innings before handing the ball over to Jacob Waguespack . Hartford scored one run in the top of the third to make it 1-0 which was all they needed to secure the game one victory.
The Yard Goats and Fightin Phils played one more half inning before the game was suspended heading into the bottom of the 4th. The game was resumed on Saturday afternoon and was dominated by pitching. The Fightin Phils threaten in the top of the 7th putting runners on the corners with no outs but could not push across a run and dropped game one 1-0.
Game 2: After a pitching duel in game one, the bats got load in game two. The Yard Goats got the scoring going in the bottom of the first. Four runs in the inning on a grand slam by Jan Vázquez against Fighitns' starter Tyler Viza opened up the scoring and gave Hartford a 4-0 lead.
Reading would respond, in the top of the second inning. Down by four, Zach Green took Hartford's Parker French deep to left field to make it 4-2. Hartford got three more back in the bottom of the 2nd; Drew Weeks homered to right field to put the Yard Goats up 7-2. A two run home run in bottom of the 4th by Omar Carrizales made it 9-2 and gave Hartford their largest lead of the day.
Not going down easy, Reading plated three runs in the 5th on RBIs by Malquin Canelo and Christian Marrero cutting the deficient to four. Green added one more RBI in the top of the 6th on a run scoring double to make it 9-6 and end the scoring for the day.
Garrett Cleavinger came on and pitched two scoreless innings in relief but the Fightins' rally came up short and dropped game two 9-6.
