Cielo Azul Weekend Highlights Comets' Penultimate Home Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Comets will take the field as Cielo Azul de Oklahoma City Friday through Sunday for ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! presented by OG&E during the Comets’ seven-game home slate against the El Paso Chihuahuas starting Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Action gets started against the Padres’ Triple-A affiliate at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow on $2 Tuesday where fans can enjoy $2 select beer, soda and bottled water from a line of Miller, Coors and Pepsi products.

Wednesday features a doubleheader of two seven-inning games with the first pitch of game one set for 4:35 p.m. and the second game to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The series then continues with a 6:35 p.m. game Thursday.

On Friday, the Comets kickstart Cielo Azul weekend as part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión initiative, which aims to celebrate each participating community’s Hispanic and Latino fans, create a culturally relevant gameday experience and develop special alternative team identities. The Comets will transform into Cielo Azul de Oklahoma City for the final three games of the series during ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! presented by OG&E. Cielo Azul translates to “Blue Sky” and in addition to players and coaches wearing Cielo Azul jerseys and hats, the gameday environment during Cielo Azul weekend is scheduled to include Latin music, colorful and festive concourse decorations along with unique entertainment and live performances. Friday’s contest has a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Due to the recent Oklahoma County burn ban extension, postgame Friday Night Fireworks presented by First American Title have been canceled.

Get to the ballpark early Saturday for a special 6:05 p.m. first pitch as the Comets celebrate Faith Night during Cielo Azul weekend. Join us for an uplifting evening of baseball, fellowship and inspiration. Following the game, enjoy a few songs played live by an area worship band and hear directly from Comets players as they share their testimonials and faith stories. Tickets can be purchased here. As part of Saturday’s ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! presented by OG&E, Mariachi Orgullo de America and Ballet Folklorico Yetzali are scheduled to perform throughout the night and the game will be carried live locally on MeTV.

Before Saturday’s game, Oklahoma City is set to induct 2008 Pacific Coast League MVP and seven-time MLB All-Star Nelson Cruz into the Oklahoma City Triple-A Baseball Hall of Fame. The pregame festivities also are scheduled to feature a special first pitch thrown by Danny Mantle, son of Oklahoma sports legend Mickey Mantle.

Saturday’s game falls on a Braum’s Friends and Family Night. Black. Following the action, kids can take the field to run the bases like their favorite pros.
