Powered by a four-run eighth inning with home runs from Storm Chasers right fielder Jorge Soler, first baseman Frank Schwindel and pinch hitter Ruben Sosa, Omaha completed a comeback victory to stun the Iowa Cubs 7-5 in front of 8,897 fans on Sunday evening at Werner Park.

After Iowa jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Soler smashed the first of his two longballs on the evening with a two-run blast to left to give the Storm Chasers the lead. The Cubs answered with single tallies in the third and fifth, bookending a two-run fourth frame to snag a 5-2 advantage. Omaha then narrowed the margin to two with a run in the seventh before their four-run spurt in the following frame.
Soler led off the eighth with a solo shot to left, his second of the game and 24th of the year with the Storm Chasers. Schwindel immediately clubbed a solo smash to left-center to even the contest at 5-5, prior to Sosa's pinch-hit go-ahead roundtripper carried over the left field wall to give the Storm Chasers a 7-5 lead they would not relinquish.
Omaha reliever Yender Caramo (1.0 IP) fired a perfect ninth inning to notch his second save of the year in support of starter Christian Binford (8.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 6 K), who earned his seventh triumph with eight innings of work to match a team single-game season-high. Iowa reliever Brad Markey (3.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) suffered the defeat to fall to 0-1.
Soler (2-3, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, BB) and Schwindel (2-4, R, HR, RBI) each tallied two knocks including their homers, while 2B Dean Anna (2-4, 2B, RBI) and C Brayan Pena (2-4, 2B) also collected multi-hit efforts. Iowa CF Jacob Hannemann (2-4, R), 1B Chris Dominguez (2-4, RBI) and SS Elliot Soto (2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI) each posted two hits. The two-homer game marked the fifth time this year Soler has gone deep twice in a contest, including his second against Iowa after smashing two big flies on August 13 at Werner Park.
Omaha and Iowa complete their respective 2017 campaigns with a Labor Day matinee at Werner Park, with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m. on Monday afternoon. RHP Arnaldo Hernandez (0-0, 1.93) is expected to toe the rubber for the Storm Chasers, with RHP Williams Perez (7-9, 4.88) anticipated to get the nod for the Cubs.
