Chiefs Fall Monday
Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs dropped a 13-0 decision to the Kane County Cougars in the series opener on Monday night. The Chiefs are now 4-1 in the second half and 43-32 overall with game two of the series set for Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead on Chiefs starter
Kane County used the long ball in the top of the fourth to widen the lead. Ernie De La Trinidad and Ryan Grotjohn singled as both runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Another home run helped put the game out of reach in the top of the fifth. Martinez singled with one out and Ernie De La Trinidad delivered a two-run jack down the right field line. Grotjohn singled to knock Seijas out of the game and CJ Saylor entered out of the bullpen.
The Cougars took advantage of back-to-back walks by Cintron and Maciel to pour it on in the top of the sixth. With two runners on, Martinez slammed a one-out double off of the left field plating Cintron and Maciel for a 12-0 advantage. After Yanqui singled to put runners at the corners, the margin increased to 13-0 on a sacrifice fly to center by De La Trinidad to score Martinez.
Seijas (2-4) took the loss throwing 4 2/3 innings allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Saylor pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
