Ariel Montesino rejoins Kernels from Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Ariel Montesino will rejoin the Kernels from Fort Myers (FSL) and INF Amaurys Minier has been released from the Kernels roster. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Montesino was originally assigned to Elizabethton on June 30th and was assigned to Fort Myers on September 2nd. He played in 45 games for the Kernels this season, batting .185 with seven doubles and 5 RBI. He was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Twins in 2013.
Minier joined the Kernels on June 23rd and hit .144 (17-118) with 3 HR and 18 RBI in 35 games. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2012.
With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with seven players currently on the DL and one player currently on the military leave list.

The Kernels begin the first round of the 2017 Midwest League Playoffs on Wednesday, August 6th at 6:35 PM, hosting the Kane County Cougars in a best of three series. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be in Kane County. Gates open at 5:30 PM.
